Our weekly adult Bible study group is set to launch on September 22nd, with plans to work through the oldest—and shortest—of the four Gospels: the Gospel according to Mark. There are two weekly offerings of this study: one on Thursdays at 10:00am, the other on Thursdays at 7:00pm. Copies of the study guide are already in: please speak to Foster to pick up a copy, or if you have any questions concerning this opportunity. And please note: between now and September 22nd, the weekly Thursday morning lectionary study group will continue to meet at 10:00am.
This week (September 22), we will be looking at unit one:
And this is the type of question we will be pondering in the study guide:
"The main thing Mark gets us to do in this opening passage is to sense the shock of the new things God was doing. If you're sick and unable to sleep much, sometimes the night seems to go on forever. But then, just when you're dozing a bit, suddenly the alarm clock goes off; it really is morning. That's the mood here.
In what ways are we asleep today in our churches, our communities and our personal lives?"
